Thanks, all.

Mine was a pretty messy problem and the "answers" I found at Adobe and in
the general ether varied greatly. In the end, this solution (luckily)
performed what I needed done without any additional chocolate mess:

*Automate* > *Scripts* > *SplitStory.vbs*
