I'd say set as well. At least that what I recall from my days in
construction work, e.g., set the rails, set the jack, set the post, set
your piles 4' deep by 12" on center, etc. This also referred to all sorts
of course and fine adjustments, e.g., With doors full closed, set the
return arm at least 1.5" past peak. Come to think of it, anything that went
on or in the ground was set, anything that was suspended was hung, e.g,
hang the car, hang the rope, hang the gate. And anything that went through
was run, e.g., run the conduit, run the pipes, run the wire. Though with
wire the instruction is to run it, while the action of actually running it
is pulling, e.g., Are you done running that wire? No I am pulling it now.

Only the white hats said things like "install".
