Yes. Personally, I'd do it all from inside cygwin. But then I do most of my stuff at home from inside Linux, and cygwin gives me a nice Unix-like command-line interface, which I enjoy.

Also, I would avoid filenames with spaces or other weird characters. I prefer to use filenames containing only [a-z], [0-9] and [$_+.], -, and possibly [A-Z]. This gives me something almost guaranteed to work across various platforms.

Unfortunately, I cannot even enforce this naming standard inside my own house. Dear Spouse uses space and other weird chars, occasionally leading to mild (but correctable) grief. At least she using a Linux box with Opera and Libre-office, so there is hope. I cannot get her to enjoy emacs.
