If the audience already understand the accounting concepts involved, then perhaps it makes perfect sense.
Otherwise, you would probably need to spell out definitions and examples for each of the concepts.
My wife just told me, echoing Margaret's suggestion, that it's all in the definitions. She makes two points:
1. The definitions are not necessarily the same from one organization to another. Even though they use standard accounting principles, their own terminology may be especially adapted to their purpose.
2. As a non-profit entity, there is a good possibility that some of the staff will be volunteers with less training in accounting than would be the case at an ordinary company. Special care will be needed to ensure that volunteers truly understand certain concepts, especially the terms that they think they already know.
For those reasons your plan to produce a better explanation may well be a good idea.
