Unfortunately, I've seen more than my fair share of technical writers over
the last 35+ years that wrote pointless and confusing paragraphs. I've also
had the pleasure of working with a number of engineers who were excellent
writers. As Gene said, during the dotcom boom years, a lot of writers (and
engineers) were hired that were neither. Unfortunately, a number of them
were good at survival skills and still clutter the workspace.
