The ribbon interface is MS trying to make the program easier for first-time
users. If you are an experienced "power user," it now takes more mouse
clicks to get to the less common features of the program unless you use the
QAT to create your own personalized ribbon.

Again, the program is specifically designed to give you the ability to
create your own ribbons to tailor its UI to your own preferences. Why
would you ignore this useful feature in favor of other features you don't
like?
