Tried that. Didn't help.

I'm down to about once a month using Word, now. (Word 2007)

I do more and more of my authoring and editing in MadCap Flare.
Flare went to a ribbon interface just recently. Crud...

In both programs, my most frequent utterance is:

"Where in hell did they put ____?"

If I want "Quick Access", I switch to "Classic" menu mode
to find out what the keyboard shortcut for a task is supposed to be.

You wouldn't believe how long it took me to find the "About"
selection (that used to be in the Help menu in Word 2003),
so I could confirm that I'm still in Office 2007, not 2010 yet.
In fact, I gave up and went to the Windows Start button to
see the program name in the "frequently used" launch list.
If there's an About banner in Word 2007, I still haven't
found it via the ribbon.

As far as I'm concerned, the white question mark in the
blue circle icon, in Word 2007 is a launcher for online
Word 2010 propaganda, and has no other function. So I never,
ever use it. If I want Word assistance, I go to the WordPC
mailing list or to Google.

I spent some time in March, configuring the QAT.
It turned out that I kept tweaking and finding things that
I'd missed or perhaps unwisely included, so it wasn't long
before "tweaking QAT", as an activity, was taking as much
time as just hunting and cursing in the overall ribbon...
or reverting to Classic mode to find stuff.

Our new writer (at this office - I'm finally not a lone
writer anymore) - is busily creating some document templates,
so we can do PDF docs in Flare that we formerly did in Word
(or that I've been doing in OpenOffice/LibreOffice for the
past few years - he has a prejudice against LO but I tolerate
that because Flare's a good enough tool that we already use
a lot, and he's willing to do the template work :-) ).

He switches to Classic mode in Flare a lot, for the same
reasons that I do when trying to learn how to accomplish
a function I've not done before, or one that I do rarely
and must re-learn.

Many people do love the ribbon. Some... not so much.
