At my first technical writing job, the Style Guide had entries for the various and the preferred plural form for platypus. This word should never have actually occurred in our documentation, but one standards/doco meeting before my time there was much heated discussion whether platypodes, platypuses, or platypi were the correct plural. ;)

It's most definitely Friday afternoon here in Australia ... :)
