Well, I don't know about the limits, but I wonder if you'd run into the same
issue if you used the actual batch processing (Advanced > Document
Processing > Batch Processing) instead of the running the individual
commands on multiple files? Seems worth a try; if it works it's easy, and
if not, you didn't invest much effort.
(I'm not sure if the Batch Processing is available in all Acrobat versions;
I have Acrobat 9 Pro Extended.)
