ALL text? Or is there context missing from this post?

If indeed ALL text, they they likely mean don't use columns, just fill
the page left to right.

If they meant for formatting sidebar text, run-in is a type of
paragraph option that has a left-more start than the body text and
literally runs into the preceding paragraph, giving the illusion that
the heading or side text is in a second column or floating text box,
but isn't.
