Straight-through page numbering

I have not had any luck finding an older thread I *think* we had on this list.

It was about reasons for keeping chapter-page numbering (4-1, 5-17, etc.) in print documents versus straight-through numbering.

People had reasons for preferring one over the other, and I'd like to review those reasons.

If anyone can find me that thread, I'll reread it. If you want to get into it again as a topic now, that's fine too. If you want to discuss it now, what do you use and why?

Thanks for your help.
