Paired orthographic allograph?

>From the discussion so far, perhaps we can agree that even if a name
is found by which we might classify "K9," such name would not be
commonly understood.  Though perhaps a name might provide insight into
some linguistic phenomenon, or aid in finding similar constructions.

Having given up on the original question, there are other questions we
can ask, such as: Does "K9" behave any differently than "canine" in
spoken English?  If it behaves the same in every respect, can we
really say that "K9" is a different word than "canine," or is it just
an alternate written representation of the same word? Is there a name,
broader than allograph, for constructions which are discernible in
written, but not spoken, language?
