I agree with Ned's assessment. It sounds like what they want to convey is that there are pros and cons to whatever the subject is.

IIRC, it was John Posada who shared a concise approach to creativity in
technical writing: Kill your darlings.

IOW, your client's tendency toward darling metaphor probably only
complicates the message. Start over and write directly at the literal
duality, whatever it is. Show your rewrite to your client and let them
decide what they want.
