I'm the first to admit that we are lucky to have buy-in from everbody. We are a little over a year old and have been doing Scrum all along. And we do have our ups and downs...we go back and forth on the importance of points, for example. We try to follow religiously but need to make adjustments all the time. So I think we are a case study for an effective implementation.



The team thing is a little grating though. It involves rowdy foosball tournaments bout 20 feet from my desk 8^?

Yes visibility is a good thing if you don't cary it too far. But we spent more time justifying every 1/10th hour and getting screamed at for deviation

Ours were 10 day sprints as well, with no down tiime inbetween. We went right into the next one. Then he started staggering them because the TW and the QA person have that down day or two in the beginning of the first sprint of a cycle, where there is not anything to write yet. he started staggering sprints so every moment we had something to do. I had plenty to do in that time - as a professional you develop your own work 9within the co's guidelines). You were not allowed to do that there.

I have never seen anything like that in my life

But you are right it matters how the co is, and how they implement it. At that co, I finally had to present all this info to them to show themthat the time estimates are not etched in stone - that we are all learning etc.. But I got tired of the fight.

Unfortunate, because we use Agile Scrum with two week sprints, and I can honestly say I am doing my best work and this is the most professional environment I have ever worked in. And I am a lone writer working with three different teams. We are also expected to make presentations, take on professional development, and attend training and team building. Visibility is a good thing, when you have had previous experience with coworkers who make bug bucks doing next to nothing. You don't pull your weight here, bye-bye.
