We also use Acrobat's shared review function, and as Suzette commented, you can attach files of pretty much any type if needed as a comment. Word, pdf, graphic, audio - any of these are acceptable.

The ability for reviewers to review simultaneously and respond to each others' comments is invaluable.

It also speeds up the whole review process.
