There's the sharing aspect and there is also the marketing aspect.
People may not be very concerned that you had oatmeal, but if you
mention the brand name, then they will have that product and brand in
their minds the next time they go shopping.

There is a current job market for writers to tweet about specific
products. Some jobs require maintaining various twitter accounts, but I
imagine that there are opportunities for posting to blogs and pages by
other people. I'm certain that an active blogger or tweeter can carve
out a nice and profitable little niche with tweets.
