Truly an epic tale, Obi-wan.

Were the Visio drawings inserted as objects into the Word 2003
documents? If so, the best way to begin is:

1. Right-click the object.
2. Select Visio Object, and then Open (*not* Edit).
3. Now that you have the object open in Visio, save it as its own Visio
file.
4. Close the Word document, and open the separately saved file in Visio.
