TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Can't speak from experience, so others on the list may have specific
recommendations, but FWIW, veteran Word guru Woody Leonhard has an
Office 2007 book and also in that Special Edition series is a title on
using Word 2007: http://www.amazon.com/Special-Using-Microsoft-Office-Word/dp/078973608X/
ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1254754833&sr=8-1. Looking inside the
book on Amazon, I noticed what appears to be extensive discussion of
field codes.

Jim

I pointed you to the appropriate help topics. Please see my post on
Friday afternoon.
Of course, with Word, a good, comprehensive aftermarket book is not a
bad idea. :-)
