I consider it an annoyance anytime Word automatically formats anything without
my actually telling it to by selecting a style tag or using manual formatting.
I can see circumstances in which I might want my cross-references to be jumps so
I can visually confirm that they point to the right places while I'm working on
the docs, but I still don't want them reformatting themselves in my printed docs
or pdfs that are going to a print vendor. Any automatic formatting that is not
an optional choice that can be easily turned off at will is something I don't
want in a word processor.
