But that's what Peter said, because .0144 (your number) equals 1.44% (his number).

But his reasoning is wrong, because to calculate the result of a 12% increase on top of a 12% increase, you don't multiply the increase percentages (12%). You multiply the *increased quantities* (112%). So it would be 1.12 x 1.12 = 1.2544 = 125.44%
