Actually, the From addresses are obscured/transmogrified in both the
archive interfaces that I know of (www.techwr-l.com/archives/ and
lists.techwr-l.com/pipermail/techwr-l/).

Although I suspect that neither method is particularly hard for the
nefarious to defeat. :-}

Anyway, nowadays you can expect to get spam eventually at just about any
functioning email address, no matter how carefully you keep it secret.

I don't know the details, but some spammers seem to pick a known domain
and then use some kind of dictionary-style attack, generating user names
at that domain. If 95% of them aren't valid, what does the spammer care?
