This sounds to me like the result of a "consumer-driven" corporate
management style in which everyone who receives or uses products,
services or information is referred to as a "consumer." Similar to the
term "internal/external customer."
And considering the bugs most SW seems to come with, the only really
"clean machine" is one that hasn't even been loaded with an OS. Oh
wait, I forgot about buggy BIOS firmware...
