I used to be able to get through by yelling profanity or gibberish or by
pushing random buttons, but now systems will not let me by with that. I've
learned that by saying something to the effect of, "I want to give you
money" to the voice-recognition system or pressing appropriate payment
buttons, and then having difficulty with processing whatever payment, helps,
but not very well.
<Phone system> "I am having trouble understanding you, but you want to make
a payment, let me get you to a live operator." Yay, a live person! "Yes,
I'm having trouble with my <fill in the blank>." "Let me transfer you tech
support." "Halloo. This is Patrick Singh. What trouble are you haveeng?"
"I am having trouble understanding you. Can I speak to somebody who speaks
English?" "Let me escalate you to admeenistrative support." <disconnect>
Yeah. I'm not a fan of telephone "support."
