One of the questions that was asked related to if we prefer salaried vs
hourly. I personally prefer hourly. Each project is different. I believe it
is fairer to my clients, and myself, to be paid for work that I actually
did.
One thing I've never thought was reasonable was "forced" overtime.
I think it is also important to note that it depends also on what a company
is willing to pay. Based on what I've learned from others on this list, it
is also going to depend on what part of the country you are located. Here in
West Michigan, few companies want to hire anyone except a contract worker.
Most companies around here don't even seem to know what a technical writer
is or does!
I've read about this class action suit with great interest. We shall see
what happens....
