The biggest problem I see with creating new words by
adding "ster" to the end of existing ones is that it evokes
images of hip, "new paradigm" dotcom businesses, and
in today's post-dotcom era, most corporate pursestrings
are back in the hands of older, deadly-serious corporate
management types. This sort of terminology may be
effective if you're marketing a $59.95 home security suite
designed to keep people from hacking customers' World
of Warcraft accounts, but attached to a product or service
that's going to be pitched to corporate management, it'll
register about the same "mindshare" as the pets.com
sockpuppet.
