It seems, though, that a lot of people have trouble making even *that*
work for them. So perhaps it's *all* rocket science, with some rockets
being bigger and more complext than others but all being capable of
crashing, burning, and causing a mess.

(BTW, see the Nov. 2008 issue of Wired for an interesting piece on DIY
rockets... )
