TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Most of the time these "new age job descriptions" are
a wasted exercise. At first people will give you that "duh"
face and ask, "what's an information developer?" After
you've explained what you do to a few hundred people,
they'll just shrug and say, "oh, you mean a technical
writer," and you'll be right back where you were in the
beginning, except that you will meet even fewer people
at cocktail parties who know what you do when you
introduce yourself..
