I found these by Googling "open source documentation management system dms":

* Knowledgetree: www.knowledgetree.com/
* OpenKM: www.openkm.com
* xinco DMS: www.xinco.org
* OpenDocMan: www.opendocman.com
* Maarch: www.maarch.org/en/
* Alfresco: www.alfresco.com/products/solutions/ecm/rm
* infoRouter: www.inforouter.com
* Contineo: freshmeat.net/projects/contineo/

I have no idea if any of these is comparable to SharePoint or
Documentum, having used SharePoint only briefly, and Documentum not at
all. I'm not going to do *all* the OP's research for him ;-)
