Hi all

Oh Word, how I love thee...well not so much these days!

I was wondering if any of you encountered this problem in Word 2003.

On the original document, numbers were bmp images. I am replacing those
image files with numbers from a number style that I created.

I am writing the user guide using conditional text (hidden styles and
templates). Most steps apply to both the Agriculture and Forest user guides.
Some steps, however, apply only to Agriculture or only to Forestry.

These steps I need to use a different number style (with hidden text) so
that it only shows up in the appropriate user guide.

The problem is that once I give that step the hidden text style, the numbers
before and the numbers after change to the hidden text style. Sometimes it
works properly, but then the subsequent number (non-hidden style) wants to
continue after the previous hidden style list.

Example:

1. (list style)

2. (list style)

3. (list style)

4. (hidden style)

4 (list style) -- it wants to continue the patten with the last style.

Other than creating a number style that starts at 5 (for this example) what
other options do I have?

I have been creating styles that start at different numbers, but I wonder
how many of these styles I will need to create. Of course, if more steps
need to be added, the formatting messes up again.

Suggestions?

Holly
