I disagree. The OP is a technical writer facing a workplace situation and
she wants to know what other technical writers would do in a similar
situation. This is a reasonable subject for this forum. Legal advice is
certainly beyond the scope of this list, but discussions of tactful ways to
approach the offending party are within the scope of this list because we
are discussing person-to-person communication. Seeking confidence and
support to assertively handle the situation and suggestions for how and to
whom to escalate the matter are also within the scope of this list.

Also, many list members do have experience in management or HR or both and
those members can provide sound advice. As all managers and persons
involved with HR have training if not experience with harassment issues.
