Well, I found it most telling that the original poster was complaining about
having to spend 150 to 200 percent time on this job that is in TAIWAN.

Not that I am saying that spending this vast amount of time on a job that is
in a greatly different cultural environment is not wrong (wrong in the sense
that those managers don't know what they are doing). It probably is wrong
there too, and they have laws and regulations that ought to be followed,
etc. They have a Department of Labor. And they have a modern economy. Are
you in Taibei or are you in a small town?

Although this is probably wrong there too, it might not be the exact same
thing culture-wise as if the person complaining were being required to spend
all of that time on the job here in North America (where most of the list is
located) or in Europe.

Sounds to me though, like the employer and the specific managers are not up
to snuff -- and if you are excellent, why would you not want to surround
yourself with excellent people -- at another, better place?

That's a sure way to get fired, especially if the company's management
is so clueless - or heartless - that it allows the 150%-200% runovers.
I'd find another job before I stopped putting in extra hours unless I
were able to sustain myself economically for a few months (including
those nasty Cobra payments!).
