Have you tried a little elitism? That's another fine fire-starter. Here's a top-ten list:
10 - Minimalism has been around since Euclid's _Elements of Geometry_.
9 - Are Austin's performatives grammatical, in a TW context?
8 - Stylistics has progressed in France more than in the US;
and worries about grammar are distinctly French, Latin
and Greek traits.
7 - One champion of literary criticism is Canadian: Northrop Frye
and he has relevant things to say about grammar and TW.
6 - Tufte has said pretty much all that needs to be said about
the grammar of quantitative charts.
5 - Fowler's position on grammar, in _Modern English Usage_ was read
and admired by William F. Buckley.
4 - Sun writes grammatically better documentation than Microsoft (or vice-versa).
3 - What about "and/or"?
2 - Figures of speech have no place in TW, although they abound in SW.
and the #1 elite war starter:

=> 1 - Just Google it. :-)
Cheers, and is it Friday yet?

Just localize your documentation. I used to do that. For American and
British, it's easy.

We have an office in the States where I work, one in the UK and one in
Denmark...our big grammar wars consist of "U" labor vs labour..."z" vs
"s" specialize vs. specialise and the ever popular do you go to the
Centre or the Center. :) I am out numbered so I just make the changes!
I do have to admit I love getting emails where they spell out Zed..as in
"it is not zed it is s". Reminds me of my Canadian grad school days and
someone in some Shakespeare play that called someone else a "whoreson
Zed". I can't recall the play, it just pops into my head whenever they
yell at me for "zedding" a word!
