You're right. Let's rename them "Lord" and "Serf" and see if that
offends anyone.

I have been using primary and secondary to refer to busses, because in
IDE, you have an IDE bus that has two connectors on the motherboard,
which are called either IDE1/2 or primary/secondary IDE. The reason for
this is that the positioning of devices between them influences boot
sequence.

For politically correct euphemisms, I like "leader" and "follower."
It's imperfect, but what isn't? Controlled/controlled conflicts with
the idea of the controller, which is the hardware device that controls
the bus the master/slave (or whatever) are on.
