"Parent/child" already has a standard usage as technical
terminology, as a description of structure or derivation,
where control may or may not exist. A master/slave
relationship is a description of control, where structure
and derivation may or may not exist. For example, it is
possible for two components to have a parent/child
relationship where the child is the master and the parent
the slave (I'm talking about engineering here, not what
you see at the other table when you go to restaurants).
