TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I've been reading this with interest, and, for me, blogging always comes back to the same question:
Why? Why blog?
I don't think I get it...

Subject: Re: practicalities of blogging
I am so not affiliated with Wordpress, but I'm sure I come off as one of
their reps. I've never had any spam issues with them. Akismet comes standard
as a spam blocker with each blog I have. I don't get thousands of hits a
say, more in the low hundreds and on one of my blogs, far less than that.
However, I know people who use the standard Wordpress blog and have had in
excess of 600,000 hits on a single post. They've never reported any issues,
that I'm aware of, with either bandwidth or spam.
Seriously, it's so easy to set up a blog. I could do a basic one in fifteen
minutes.
