I have used TortoiseSVN (Subversion) with FM with no ill effects.
One of the major difficulties that arise in trying to use version
control with FM or MS Wrod doc files is that some control systems assume
that they are manipulating "lines of source code." FM and similar files
look like "binaries" and cannot receive the treatment for cataloging
each small portion, as modified by whom and at what time. Instead,
changing the least comma results in an entirely new file, perhaps
whoppobytes in size. One bad result is a tendency to avoid checking
anything in until "done" to avoid the overhead or the difficulties of
lack of disk space in the version repository.
