Normal can have its uses.
I often encourage the use of manually-formatted Normal
text by people who are sending me input, do not know
how to use styles but insist on trying to format anyway.
Since nothing in any of my finished doc files uses Normal
or is based on it, importing such input doesn't FUBAR
anything in the document and I can then tag it correctly.
It doesn't matter if the material doesn't look the same
as it did for them when I open it, because I am the one
who decides what it's all supposed to look like in the
final version anyway.
