TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
BLS is indeed by title, and if my understanding is correct, what the
STC did is go through all the data for all representative titles. I
can't verify as I haven't seen the offering yet, and am certainly not
going to pay $99 as a STC member to learn about the data. I've posted
my questions in the STC Forum for discussion. It's seen a good amount
of discussion, but I'm afraid not enough detail from those who decided
to implement this model. I still await information about their plan,
which they say they have. That they aren't openly sharing the plan
says that either they don't trust the membership with the info or they
really don't have a plan after all.
