I haven't been able to keep up with this discussion, but felt I should step in and muddy the job-title waters. ;->
I haven't seen mine mentioned: I am a "Learning Products Engineer". I believe this means that I engineer products (actually, usually, parts of products) that help people learn. Also, anybody who's anybody around here is an engineer. (In fact, I have an engineering degree.)
Of course, when people outside the company ask what I do, I say I'm a technical writer. There's no point at all in saying the other thing.
