Thanks for the suggestions.

I've decided to call them tasks, according to what Darren and Joyce suggested.

I don't really like the use of the word "procedure" - for one thing, I simply prefer shorter words, and though I see the logic of Richard's and others suggestion that a set of steps constitutes a procedure, I prefer to eliminate the need to refer to another element of the hierarchy and just limit it to tasks and steps.

Here's what I'm working with now:

"To configure your vehicle for Stardrive I/O support, the following four distinct tasks are required. Each task consists of multiple steps which must be done before moving on to the next task. When the four tasks are completed, Stardrive I/O support configuration will be complete."

Any other comments or suggestions are welcome.
