If I am a secondary interviewer for a non-writer candidate,
I wouldn't be as likely to make poor writing ability a mark
in the minus column.  One of the things I do around this
place is help create the illusion that everyone here can
write reasonably well.

As far as giving young people latitude, if someone is
coming in to talk about an internship or summer job, sure.
But once you're out of school the adult world is sink or
swim, and the sooner new grads learn that there's no partial
credit if the final results are bad, the better for everyone.

I kinda got a little bit of a Devil's Advocate thing going with this one
when the résumé sender in the example was applying for a job in wildlife
rehabilitation and not to write, although if writing was a part of the job,
then this can be an issue.  Résumés should be error-free, but I like to see
a little bit of latitude for young people.  A résumé filled with egregious
errors would require more than a _little bit_ of latitude; however, I think
that we should recognize that young people may not present themselves with
the competency-level of more mature adults.
