Are we baby-boomer parents to blame for all the illiterate and
ill-mannered young people of today? Gee, I thought it was our fault that
so many kids are totally stressed out overachievers.

Any way you look at it, it's all our fault!

:)

For hundreds of generations, young people who chafed under
direction from their parents, teachers, etc., have grumbled.
"When I grow up, I'm not going to make my kids do that."
The baby boomer generation was the first to actually carry
out that threat, and today you can see the result any time you
go out to stores, restaurants, etc., and see parents laughing
and expecting us to be amused as well when their children
do things in public that would have gotten us disciplined.
It's not such a big jump to imagine the grown-up boomers not
pushing their kids to do their homework, get good grades,
etc.

When I was a kid (I'm 58 now), men removed their caps / hats while inside
ANYPLACE. It was just second-nature. But then, kids who
hated to be told "Take off your hat when you're inside!" made sure THEIR
kids weren't so humiliated and never taught them what was
once considered good manners.
