List Member of the Year Awards! And the TeWie goes to...everyone who
avoids responses to recurrently annoying threads.

The other nominees were Richard Lewis, Generic Richard, Tony Markos,
Tony Markatos, et al.
Richard's posts are proof that negative advertising sells and that
people remember and respond in droves to dreadful ads. Thanks, Richard,
for the social experiment! Exhibit A: here I am responding to a thread
that is rife with the unsupported claims and useless diatribe that I
usually reserve for deletion (and adding to it). Henceforth, I'll
continue to be reticent on Richard's views because the more expressive
among us (the uncontrolled group in the experiment) are baited to
numerous moot attempts to prove him wrong!

Richard's right in his own unique "DFD-or-bust" context, why challenge
and re-challenge him? I've never been a supporter of his views but it is
getting harder and harder to distinguish the baseless from the
authoritative in threads like this, even when I *know* from the outset
which side is which. Enough already!

Even so, I can only say "Go Richard"! As the numbers of those who feel
compelled to respond to drivel swell, he'll be a shoe in for the award
next year!

The thing I wish many of you here on TECHWR-L would realize is that, by
feeling the need to rebuke trollish behavior, you're perpetuating it.
I'm
not sure which is more damaging to the TECHWR-L community: the troll or
the
people who give the troll the attention he craves.

It's abundantly obvious that opinions on all sides are immutable, so let
it
go. When there is no hope of anything productive coming from the debate,
it
devolves into some grotesque intellectual pissing contest...
And,frankly, I
am tired of being splashed while standing on the sidelines.
