Y'all 'preachin' to the choir my man.

This is a major "test" project for a major (i.e deep-pockets) client --
and yes, things a a bit slow(er) in the TW area -- at least for now. If
we're going to tackle new applications, this would be the time for it.
If we pull this off everybody's rice bowl will be overflowing for quite
a spell.

Sometimes the TW area has to "take one for the team" since other areas
don't see us as an "essential function" -- not where I work now, but in
previous lives.......

It's like we were just waiting for someone to come and bless us with a
*real* job

Blessings,
Darren

Darren,

Has the TW department been bored lately? Do they have extra time to do
this extra work? Where is that time coming from? What doc *isn't* going
to get written b/c of these changes?

I'm sure more of you are about to suggest the same thing:

<Off-list, Paul Hanson wisely pointed out t> To me, it doesn't make
sense to have the illustrations being edited by more than one person,
especially if doing so requires the TW dept to learn a new app.

I agree Paul -- and that's normally how things run around here, but due
to workload, staffing, time and other issues it will be more efficient
to have the TW do the "little fixes" instead of being put back into the
illustration queue where a 20-minute correction could languish for days
before it gets to an art person's work folder. That 20-minute correction
could then sit for another day or two until it is worked on, then it
goes back into the QA stream......

We only want a grafix guru to create the initial illustrations and
perform the major corrections/updates so we don't nickel-n-dime the
Illustrators to death.

Besides, the TW depot doesn't mind the resume enhancement -- no, not at
all ;~).

However, we want to lower the learning curve if that is possible -
probably not, but I thought I'd ask.

Blessings,

Darren

<snip>

A new project will require the TW department to provide technical QA and

light editing of interactive illustrations (wiring diagrams, schematics

etc). The writers will also be creating "pop-up" notes and Metadata for

the illustrations. The graphics folks are looking at using either Corel

or IsoDraw but the TW skill set is basically at the "Photoshop" level.

Can anyone tell me if one of these programs has a "less steep" learning

curve than the other?
