It's artificial obfuscation by the web industry and has nothing to do
with the task of laying out a web page, which is very simple and hasn't
changed materially since 1994 or so.

I agree no one should sell themselves short for not being up on the
latest memorized shortcuts and other tedium. It's not rocket science.
And, if you look past the FUD and hype, it's really simple but one in
ten thousand people can do that :)
