I will be starting a new job shortly in an area that's totally
unfamiliar. One of the reasons I was hired is because they want someone
who knows how to investigate and learn and who can turn that into a
comprehensive web site. It will take insatiable curiosity to accomplish.
Thank goodness it's something I am blessed with. That and an ability to
absorb and organize. When I teach tech writing, I say that there are
five skills that good tech writers need:
Conceptualize
Investigate
Assimilate
Organize
Regurgitate
And as for crossword puzzles, one of the few things I subscribe to
(actually pay $$ for!) is the New York Times crosswords. I do the
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday puzzles religiously. In ink, too. I love
the new puzzles they've been doing, especially the "Split Decisions"
ones. I enjoy the puns and anagrams, too. The acrostics, not so much.
My 2¢,
John Garison
