Keith,

If the links are working ok on your machine but not on your co-workers, see if you can find T:\ApplicationFolder\HelpFilesFolder\Welcome_to_Help.htm via your machine. If so, check the source for absolute or relative links to files on T:\. This might be the case since your co-worker is pulling up such a path, which his or her machine might not be able to access. And if that is the case, you want to use relative links that can be traced back to the help files index page.

system...

WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN...
In our company's application, when the end user clicks in a field (such
as a text box) and presses F1, a field-level help topic should open for
that field.

WHAT HAPPENS FOR ME...
When I do this in our application, the correct field-level help topic
opens. This is the kind of path displayed in my WebHelp browser:
file:///T:/ApplicationFolder/HelpFilesFolder/Welcome_to_Help.htm#Topic.h
tm

WHAT HAPPENS FOR MY COWORKER...
However, when my coworker does the same procedure in our application,
the field-level help topic does not open. Instead, the path in his
WebHelp browser is:
T:\ApplicationFolder\HelpFilesFolder\Welcome_to_Help.htm

In other words, the Start Page for the help system opens, NOT the
field-level help topic.

WHY THE DIFFERENT RESULTS?
Can anyone shed any light on what's going on? Why the different result?

Someone floated the idea that the security settings may be different on
my coworker's computer than mine. Is this a possible explanation?

One other thing: These field-level help topics are NOT called by the
application using Map IDs. Instead, the actual help topic file name is
coded into the application. (So, "When F1 is pressed in this text box,
open XYZ.htm.") It's a .NET application.

Thanks for any ideas!

Keith
