Uh, be careful. I once had the idea of putting sticker labels on the
CDs I used for my regular backups, rather than writing on the CDs
themselves (they were rewritable CDs). I used regular mailing labels I
had kicking around, cut to fit.

The first time I put a CD with the sticker on it into my computer, there
was a long pause, a funny grinding noise from the drive, my computer
popped up a box that said "this disk cannot be read," and then it
popped the CD out of the drive. And THE STICKER WAS GONE.

Fortunately, it seemed that despite this experience both the CD and and
CD drive actually worked fine, and as far as I know the sticker is still
in there. But it could have turned out very badly. Buy sticky stickers.
