TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
I think you and Richard missed my point, and as I've
been saying, I'm not limiting what others can do, but
describing their position in the architecture process.
I never insulted QAs or stated that they couldn't
contributed, but did point out that their role in
fixing bugs is remedial and not architectural. This is
a fundamental difference in practice between
design-level fixes and functional fixes.
I think what's happening here is that several people
perceived my comments as an attack on QAs, which they
were not, and decided to flame me as a result. I'm not
interested in the drama, and so my responses are less
than reassuring to you.
