I was taught that pointing is rude. I usually say something to the effect
of, "Open a web browser and go to the web address www.example.com." Less
savvy audiences may need a longer explanation about browsers and URLs and
such, while more savvy audiences may only require, "Go to www.example.com."
If the web browser is already opened, then for the less savvy user I say,
"Enter www.example.com in the address bar and press Enter." Otherwise, "go
to..." still works.
